Let your Voice be Heard!!

Write to congress:

Write to the president:

There are many issues that face society that are decided by people above our reach of influence. But many of us do live in a democracy and have a chance to let our voices be heard about important issues. Don't let this chance slip by you!! Get involved.

December 22, 2004 - The Community Reinvestment Act, begun about 30 years ago to end the practice of red-lining and force banks to invest fairly in all communities is under fire. In particular two regulators are considering rule changes that would seriously declaw the Act. Read about the details in this Op-Ed piece from the New York Times written by Robert Rubin and Micheal Rubinger, both connected to LISC.

And then take action. Click here (National Community Reinvestment Coalition), sign the letter, and let the regulators know what you think.

June 28, 2004 - Senator Orrin Hatch introduced a bill to the Senate last week that is going to have a huge effect on companies that make technology related products. The bill would make it illegal for companies to produce products that would have the ability to allow the user to violate copyright law. The fuzzy nature of the language has led many to believe that almost any computer based product could be a target by the legislation. A very helpful read on the subject can be found here.

After reading about the issue use the boxes to the left to tell your senator that you think the INDUCE bill is out of line. Your voices make a difference.

June 22, 2004 - Tell the President that the current situation in the Sudan bears intervention. People are starving and the UN is promising an imminent humanitarian disaster. Nicoloas Kristof of the New York Times has been covering the issue and provides some background on the situation here.

After reading about the issue use the boxes to the left to tell the President of the United States that the country has a responsibility. Your voices make a difference.
