Last weekend we had a great opportunity
to perform our violins in a concert at a local community center. You can
read more about our musical background here
but here was the story about last week's concert. Sarah is teaching 3
kids the violin and one of the parents is quite a go getter and always
out for an opportunity to show off Sarah's violin ability. Apparently
he has some friends who come to Hondo once a year to give a harmonica
concert and he thought it would be a good idea to to combine the harmonica
with the violin. So he made all the arrangements and so we were sharing
the bill with a group of harmonica players from Kumamoto City. He was
eager to promote the event and so in the weeks leading up to the concert
it was hard to enter any store in Hondo without coming across the official
concert poster.
Finally the day came and it was quite a nice time. Sarah played 6 solo
pieces and Mamiko (our flute playing boss) and I joined on one piece.
Our friend Mihoko accompanied us on the piano for all of the pieces. Also
Sarah's three students each played a piece that they had been workin on.
It was a nice concert and we were glad many of our friends from Hondo
could enjoy our music. |
