Nothing is more exciting that Wednesday nights than the West Wing. For polictical buffs there is nothing more stimulating than getting a interesting preview of the atmosphere that surrounds some of the United States most important political situations. While the issues are politically divisive, the show does a half decent job of showing both sides.

To take your mind off of reality Alias is a good bet. You have to suspend your disbelief in order for it to work though. This is a spy TV show that has it all, intrigue, costumes, exotic places, the newest gadgets etc. While you might be confused if watching it for the first time, it doesn't take too many episodes to get you hooked. You can also rent past season on DVD.
