Hat Yai |
Songkla |
The ride up the east coast of Thailand
is flat, flat, flat. This ride has some traffic, not too much but
there isn't a whole lot to see. |

Hua Sai |
Flat the whole way. Not too much to see but you do
hit the coast in a few parts (near to Hua Sai) and can see a lot of
shimp farms. |

Nakon Si Thammarat |
Very nice day of biking. We took the "scenic" route along
the coast. The head winds were strong west of Pak Phanang but it was
a nice ride. |

Nakon Si Thammarat |
Shichon |
Not really that interesting of a stretch but near Sichon you turn
to the coast and it is nice for the last km or so. |

Hat Bo phut,
Ko Samui |
Had some confusion getting out of Shichon. Originally we planned
to take a ferry out of Khanom, but apparently that ferry isn't running.
The ride into the Dom Sak ferry terminal is nice and riding on Ko
Samui is very picturesque. |

Nice day ride around Ko Samui to check ou the scene at the main
beaches that we couldn't afford to stay at. |

Very flat and pretty easy ride. |

Nakon Sawon |
Biked in the rain. We think the rain made us feel tired and worn
out. Much the same scenery as the day before. There is more than one
way to get from A to B and we chose the most direct way which meant
40 km on the main highway at the end of the day. |

Phitsanulok |
Our longest day of the trip. But there is no confusion about which
road to take and the biking is smooth and fast. As it was the rainy
season lots of green and flood scenery. |

Sukhotai |
An easy ride after the previous long two days. More nice scenery
along this leg. |

Sukhotai |
Nice day ride to the Sukhotai ruins and around them. The ruins make
for very nice biking and are pretty much the only way to experience
them. Very enjoyable riding. |

Chiang Mai |
Chiang Mai |
Day ride out to the Doi Suthep temple to the northwest of Chiang
Mai. On the way back we biked off the main road a few km to a nice
waterfall. |
